Euro Group C-Advancement Scenarios

Going into the final game:

Holland- has won group and will play second place finisher of Group D in quarterfinals

Romania- advances with win or draw against Holland, advances with loss to Holland and Italy-France draw provided they do not lose by 4 or more goals to Holland.

Italy- advances with win over France and Romania draw or loss to Holland.

France- advances with win over Italy and Romania draw or lose to Holland.

Should Italy-France draw 0-0 and Romania lose 0-3, Fair play will dictate who advances.

Should Italy-France draw at a score of at least 1-1 and Romania goes goalless and loses by 4 or more goals, Italy/France would kick penalties to decide who advances.

Very unlikely scenarios there but possible.

If Romania draw, they only advance with an Italy/France draw, either team wins and they have 4 points while the gypsies only have 3.

no way, games are played at the same time and neither team can risk the Dutch B squad beating Romania by at least 3 goals. Plus, that would send the game to PKs for advancement, a complete crap shoot they will both want to avoid. Neither team can play for a draw.

Thought was what I said, if not, I am mistaken.

Definitely got to thing that both France and Italy will be playing for the win and can't afford a draw.

Will be interesting to see just how motivated the Dutch will be. On one hand they would be silly to kill their momentum right now, on the other it might be in their best interests to "let" Romania beat them, for the long run.

Ooijer and Di Jong will rest at the bare minimum (cards), also imagine RVN, sneijder and Kuyt rest though their replacements (RVP, Huntelaar and Robben) are better than many starters. Question is more of desire, defense and tackling than personnel.

Wasn't van Persie dinged up at the start of the tournament. Would think they may rest him as well to be healthy for the games that matter ahead.

yes, so was Robben. I read somewhere MVB wanted to get them "match fit". Have to follow the news leading up to the game.
